Daventry Marketing

Quick creative thinking was required at the weekend thanks to a sudden downfall of snow on the Saturday night, Sunday morning. Thanks to the recent marketing of the events at Whilton Locks Garden Village, by Nick Price Creatives the Saturday was the best day ever at the centre – Santa’s grotto was incredibly popular, Elsa the singing princess was sold out, so too Breakfast with Santa in the morning. Ice skating too had it’s busiest ever day.

So the success of Saturday came crashing down with the significant snowfall on Sunday. We were on site early and the call was made to cancel the special events but for the centre to remain open. What would be worse than customers making the effort to turn up only to find the centre closed?!

Footfall was obviously down on the day – Santa did arrive safely and did see a small amount of children, similarly a few of the real Christmas trees were also sold and loaded onto the snow-covered cars. Brave people even tried the ice rink – and to be fair, the whole site did look glorious covered in a blanket of crisp white snow.

Our marketing kicked in informing as many customers who had pre-booked tickets the current situation – so too informing the people who had planned to visit that day. A constant stream of information was required, so too press releases informing of refunds/re-bookings for bought tickets. A difficult day all round but perfect for some snow photographs.

This weekend? There is no snow forecast and bookable events are filling up fast as we continue to market this great Winter Wonderland.
